Dear Cousins,
The Semple Family Reunion has grown tremendously since its inception almost ten years ago. From a small gathering we attracted over one thousand participants at the Reunion held at Belladrum August 1998.
The 1998 Reunion presented the Family Reunion PlanningCommittee with formidable Administrative and Financial challenges, and created the momentum and opportunities for further development.
The Planning Committee has given rise to the Semple Foundation. The Foundation will be legally registered and servesas the umbrella for all the committees: Family Reunion, Education, Scholarship, Publication etc. The Foundation hopes to embark on some other activities as soon as possible. These will include: Continuing Education Classes, selected Medical evaluations for family members a Community Library at Lichfied equipped with a number of networked computers A periodic community Newsletter is also being planned.
This vision comes with a price tag _ a building that will house a well equipped office, In order to help us jumpstart this project which should be well on its way prior to the Millennium Reunion, we are asking our cousins to Pledge a fixed annual sum for five years. There will be other fund raising activities but these Pledges will provide the Big Bang we need to start.
Sincerely,
Cousin Norman
